This page covers everything you need to do from the moment you create your account to the moment you're ready to play or run your first event.
1 Create an Account
Go to mtgsl.cloud and click Register. There are two ways to sign up:
- Continue with Google or Continue with Discord. Approve the request, then pick your screen name (your public display name across all leagues). Your Google or Discord profile picture becomes your avatar. No password needed.
- Email and password. Enter your email, a screen name and a password.
Your account starts on the Casual tier. You can upgrade at any time from your Profile page. If you picked a paid plan before signing up, you go straight to checkout either way.
2 Verify Your Email
After registering with an email and password, MTGSL sends a verification email to the address you provided. Signed up with Google? You're already verified and can skip this step. Discord accounts are verified too, unless Discord didn't share a confirmed email, in which case we email you a link.
Didn't receive the email?
- Check your spam or junk folder
- Go to your Dashboard - the verification banner has a Resend Verification button
3 Complete Your Profile
Go to your Profile (top-right avatar or navigation menu) and fill in:
- Avatar - click your avatar to upload a profile image (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 5 MB - see Uploading images)
- Screen Name - your public name across all leagues
- Pronouns - optional, displayed on your public profile
- Match Availability - set the days and hours you're generally free each week. Organisers who run leagues with Match Scheduling enabled will use this to help players find a time that works.
Your profile is visible to other players in leagues you participate in.
Uploading images
Avatars, logos, banners and photos all follow the same few rules. Each upload box shows its own limits underneath, and MTGSL tells you straight away if a file won't fit, before anything uploads.

- Videos can't be uploaded. MP4, MOV and other video files aren't accepted anywhere. To show a moment from a video, take a screenshot of it.
- iPhone photos (HEIC): pick the photo from your Photos library in the upload box and your iPhone converts it to JPG for you. If you're uploading a HEIC file from a computer, take a screenshot of it or export it as JPG first.
- File too big? A screenshot of the image is usually well under the limit. Your phone's photo editor or any free image resizer works too.
4 Take the Onboarding Tour
When you first log in, MTGSL offers an interactive guided tour. The tour walks you through:
- The Dashboard and how to find your leagues
- Creating a league
- Navigating a league page (standings, matches, settings)
- Managing organisations and series (Community/LGS tiers)
- Your profile and match analytics
You can skip the tour at any time, or restart it from the dashboard. The tour covers each area as you navigate to it rather than all at once. The top menu keeps working while a tour is open: going to another page skips that page's tour.
5 Understand Your Tier
Your account tier controls what you can create and manage. Here's a quick summary:
